Work with filters and data

When importing data with FH CAD Monitor, you have the option to define CAD data filters, specify a process termination expression, map CAD unit values to FIREHOUSE Software unit values, convert CAD data values into FIREHOUSE Software lookup codes, map CAD unit values to FIREHOUSE Software unit values, include additional columns in the import, and more.

1. (If you selected Run as a Service during installation) Stop the FH CAD Monitor service.

   Information on stopping the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Stop a service.

2. At the bottom of the FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor window, click Options.

   The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box appears, displaying the General tab.

3. Click the Filters & Data tab.

   Note: The Unit Status and Query Additional Incident Columns sections do not appear on the tab for all CAD systems.

   

4. Do any of the following.

   • Define CAD data filters.
   • Specify a process termination expression
   • Map CAD system fields to FIREHOUSE Software database fields
   • Convert CAD data values into FIREHOUSE Software lookup codes
   • Specify which fields to not overwrite
   • Map CAD unit values to FIREHOUSE Software unit values
   • Include additional columns in the import

5. (Genisis CAD) Select or clear Get incident number from unit record to indicate whether or not. you want to use the incident number in the unit record from the CAD data as the incident number in FIREHOUSE Software.

6. (Tritech VisiCAD XML) Under Tritech Mutual Aid Filter, identify the department importing the incident.

   The agency type and unit jurisdiction are values included in the CAD data files sent to FH CAD Monitor.

   If you filter the data files for specific agency types and unit jurisdictions, data files that do not contain these types and jurisdictions are assumed to be from departments that gave or received mutual aid.

   Note: Data from mutual aid departments may or may not be imported into FIREHOUSE Software, based on your settings on the General tab, under the Process sub-tab. Information on specifying these settings is available in Configure general FH CAD Monitor, under Process and Update sub-tabs.

   If you do not filter for a particular agency type or unit jurisdiction, all data in the CAD file is assumed to belong to your department, and is imported into FIREHOUSE Software.

   1. In Agency Type, type the name of the agency that you want to filter the CAD data for.
   2. In Unit Jurisdiction, type the name of the department a unit is from, so that you can filter the CAD data for it.

7. Click Save.

   The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box closes.

8. (If you stopped the FH CAD Monitor service earlier) Restart the FH CAD Monitor service.
