Define CAD data filters

You have the option to set up data filters to select which records are processed from the CAD system. This feature is normally used to filter a specific system's records in a multiple-system CAD system.

  1. (If you selected Run as a Service during installation) Stop the FH CAD Monitor service.

Information on stopping the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Stop a service.

  2. At the bottom of the FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor window, click Options.

The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box appears, displaying the General tab.

  3. Click the Filters & Data tab.

Note: The Unit Status and Query Additional Incident Columns sections do not appear on the tab for all CAD systems.

  4. Under CAD Data Filters, click Filters.

The CAD Data Filters dialog box appears.

  5. From Show filters to CAD data table, select a CAD table.

Note: The list of tables available in the menu varies, depending on the CAD system you selected during installation.

  6. Click Add.

In the CAD Data Element column, a cell highlights.

  7. In the cells for each column in that row, type or use the lookup button to define the CAD data elements (fields), qualifier, and qualifying values for each cell.
  8. (If building a nested logical expression) In the ( and ) columns, in the cell the appropriate rows, enter as many parentheses as needed to construct the expression.

Example: To build the expression UNIT_ID AND (UNIT_EROUTE_DATE is not NULL AND UNIT_ONSCENE_DATE is not NULL) in FH CAD Monitor, you would set up the filter with the ( ) columns as shown in the image below.

  9. (If necessary) In the Logical column, combine multiple expressions using AND or OR.
  10. (If necessary) Repeat steps 3–6 for additional tables.
  11. Click OK.
  12. (Optional) Select or clear Exclude incidents where no units are dispatched to indicate whether or not an incident report should be created in FIREHOUSE Software, when units are not dispatched.
  13. (If necessary) Click Reset Default Filters to reset all CAD data filters for the current CAD table back to their default settings.
  14. Click OK.
  15. Click Save.

The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box closes.

  16. (If you stopped the FH CAD Monitor service earlier) Restart the FH CAD Monitor service.

Information on starting the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Start a service.
