Convert CAD data values into FIREHOUSE Software lookup codes

Many fields in FIREHOUSE Software are driven by lookup tables for consistent data entry. Equivalent fields from a CAD system may or may not be lookup-driven, or the values may not correspond to values that you use in FIREHOUSE Software. You can specify CAD values and relate them to valid FIREHOUSE Software values from the applicable lookup table/category.

  1. (If you selected Run as a Service during installation) Stop the FH CAD Monitor service.

Information on stopping the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Stop a service.

  2. At the bottom of the FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor window, click Options.

The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box appears, displaying the General tab.

  3. Click the Filters & Data tab.

Note: The Unit Status and Query Additional Incident Columns sections do not appear on the tab for all CAD systems.

  4. Under Code Conversions, click Code Conversions.

The Code Conversions dialog box appears.

  5. From Show Code Conversions for Lookup Category, select a lookup table.
  6. Click Add.

A cell in the CAD Value column highlights to indicate that this is a new row.

  7. In the highlighted cell, type the CAD data value you want to convert to a valid FIREHOUSE Software value in the lookup table selected from Show Code Conversions for Lookup Category.
  8. For the same row, in the Converts to FH Code column, type the corresponding FIREHOUSE Software code, or click the lookup button and use the dialog box that appears to select the FIREHOUSE Software code.

If you click the lookup button, the Select Value dialog box appears, listing all the lookup codes in the lookup table you selected earlier.

  9. Select or clear Evaluate CAD Value using regular expressions to indicate whether or not to enable expression validation of code conversion custom expressions.
  10. Select or clear Bypass FH Lookup Validation to indicate whether or not to import values, even when they are not valid lookups.

Warning: If you select this option, carefully review FIREHOUSE Software records created from CAD records for invalid entries (codes without description).

  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Save.

The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box closes.

  13. (If you stopped the FH CAD Monitor service earlier) Restart the FH CAD Monitor service.

Information on starting the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Start a service.
