Export NFIRS 5.0 Transaction File

Most states require department information before accepting NFIRS 5.0 transaction files.

If you have not previously exported this information to the state, follow the steps in Export Department Information.

Note: If you have converted FH 3.5X reports, FH 3.5X fire incident reports are in the NFIRS 4.1 format and cannot be exported from FH 6. Converted FH 3.5X EMS incident reports can be exported from FH 6.

  1. From the File menu, select the NFIRS 5.0 Incident Reporting option, then the Export NFIRS 5.0 Export Transaction File option.

The NFIRS 5.0 Export Wizard form is displayed.

Note: For EMS exports, the process for submitting standard EMS transaction files is essentially similar, with exceptions noted. Standard EMS exports are accessed from File > EMS/Search Rescue Reporting > Export EMS Transaction File. Information on exporting OH EMS incidents is available in Export OH EMS.

  2. Select Export Completed Incident Transactions Only, then press Next>>.
  3. Specify FDID and Date Range.

Note: For EMS exports, use Service Number instead of FDID.

  4. Set Additional Options as needed.

If your incident reports include state user fields, be sure to check Export state user field transactions.

  5. Press Next>>.
  6. Specify file output options, then press Next>>.

  7. Specify how the incident is to be treated after it is created.

    4. Select Yes, transmit the file(s) to an internet or intranet site via FTP... and specify FTP Setup if your transaction files can be sent to an FTP site.

More information on the FTP setup is available in Internet File Transfer (FTP).

    5. Select Yes, attach the file(s) to and send an e-mail message... and specify E-Mail Setup if your transactions can be sent to an email address.

More information on the email setup is available in Internet Settings .
