Workstation Options Scheduling

  1. Select the Tools menu, Workstation Options option.

  2. Click the Scheduling tab.

Scheduling section is only accessible if you have Staff Scheduling enabled.

  3. Type or lookup the default schedule to use.

When checked, Confirm reassignment when a change is made through drag-and-drop on the console, displays the Schedule Personnel Reassignment form when you drag and drop a staff member from one assignment to another via the Scheduling Console.

You can approve the reassignment from the Schedule Personnel Reassignment form. When disabled, the reassignment is added as an unapproved exchange. Disable Confirm reassignment when a change is made through drag-and-drop on the console if you will not be approving the reassignment or changing assignment details at the same time the staff member is reassigned using drag-and-drop.

  4. Set Resolution and Show Color At value for shift color coding.

Resolution specifies how many segments are available for shift-color display for each day on a shift-color coded calendar.

Example: If you specify ‘24’, every hour of the day can potentially be displayed as a separate shift color. If Resolution is ‘1’, only one shift color can be displayed per day, even if there is more than one shift on that day.

Note: Higher Resolution values require more time to display multiple shifts on calendar forms.

Example: Show Color At specifies how shift color segments are determined. For example, if the Resolution is ‘1’ and there are two shifts for a day, ‘Red’ from 0000 to 0800 and ‘Green’ from 0800 to 0000, the day is displayed as ‘Red’ if Show Color At  is ‘Start’, and ‘Green’ if Show Color At is ‘Middle’ or ‘End’.

  5. Specify Journal Calendar shift color-coding.

    1. Check Do not color journal to disable shift coloring in the Department Journal. This is recommended if you are using a low-speed connection to the FH database.
    2. Check Color background and use solid icons to use a solid background for icons displayed in the journal.

When events are displayed in the journal and this option is enabled, the icons are displayed on a solid background over shift coloring. Use this option if your shift colors obscure event icons.

Note: When the Department Journal is ‘normal’ size, the solid icon block can obscure shift colors. You can enlarge the Department Journal form to prevent this.

    3. Check Color background and use transparent icons to use a transparent background for icons displayed in the journal.

When events are displayed in the journal and this option is enabled, only the icons are displayed.

    4. Check Color day number to color the day number with the shift color.

Note: Only one shift color can be used for the day.

  6. Specify Date Lookups shift color-coding.

Date lookups are displayed when you lookup date values and enter date criteria for reports.

    • Check Do not color lookups to disable shift coloring in date lookups.

This is recommended if you are using a low-speed connection to the FH database.

    • Check Color background to enable shift coloring in date lookups.
    • Check Color day number to enable shift coloring for the date number only.
  7. Specify Other Calendars shift color-coding. The Staff Schedule Calendar form is an example of an other calendar.

    • Check Do not color to disable shift coloring in other calendars.

This is recommended if you are using a low-speed connection to the FH database.

    • Check Color background to enable shift coloring in other calendars.
    • Check Color day number to enable shift coloring for the date number only.
  8. Check Real-Time link with Station Roster to transfer staff added to current shift to the Staff Roster using system time.
  9. Check Real-Time link with data entry to add staff added to the current shift to a selection list anytime you browse for staff members from a data entry form.

Example: If you press the Staff ID from the Maintenance/Test Detail form Basic section, staff members added for the currently active shift(s) are listed. The active shift is determined by using the start date and time from the Maintenance/Test Detail record.

If the start date and time is not available, system time is used.

  10. Press OK.
