Find a point of interest (POI)

You can find points of interest on the map either by categories (restaurants, schools, tourism attractions, and so forth), or by listing all the points of interest in an area.

  1. Select the tab of the map that you want the locations to appear in when you find them.
  2. Depending on whether you want to see all points of interest or only those in a specific category, do one of the following.

Note: POIs are restricted to up to 1000 location results.

  3. (Optional, if a lot of locations appear in the tab) Under Attribute Filter, type the numbers or letters corresponding to only the locations you want to see.

The list of locations reduces as you type, to only the ones that still match the text in Filter. The number of locations in the map also reduces to only the remaining locations.

  4. (If multiple locations are found) In the tab, select the correct location from the list.

The push-pin for the selected location turns red on the map, to identify the location.

  5. (Optional) Change the geographical area that the search is conducted over.

    1. (Optional) In the tab, in the blank field at the top of the menu, type the numbers or letters corresponding to only the locations you want to see.

The list of options in the menu reduces as you type, to only the ones that still match the text in the field.

Example: If you enter inc in the blank field, the menu shortens to include only the options with those characters in them.

    2. Select the type of point to define the geographical area around.

    3. (Optional) Change the search distance.

Note: If you chose Within Map's Viewable Area, the field and button below do not appear in the tab, and you must zoom in or out on the map to change the search distance.

      1. Under Geospatial Filter, in the distance field, type a larger or smaller distance value for the search.
      2. From the button to the right of the distance field, select the units the search distance should be measured in.
  6. In the tab, select the correct location from the list.

The push-pin on the map moves as necessary to identify the location you selected on the tab.

  7. (Optional) Work more with the location results in the list.

Information on working with the results is available in Work with found location results.
