Modify Existing Toolbar

  1. From the Tools menu, select Workstation Options.

  2. Press Customize Toolbars....

    The Customize Toolbars form is displayed with all current toolbars.

    Tip: You can also access the Customize Toolbars form by placing your cursor over a toolbar, then pressing your right-mouse button and selecting Customize Toolbars.

  3. Press New.

    The Toolbar Properties form General section is displayed and an empty toolbar is placed in the upper left hand corner of the FH workspace.

  4. In Toolbar Title, specify a title for the toolbar.

    The title is displayed at the top of the toolbar when the toolbar is Not docked.

  5. Under Button Style, select a style.

    Select this style To do this
    Icon Only Display toolbar buttons with icons only.
    Icon & Text Display toolbar buttons with icons with descriptive text for each icon.
    Text Only Display toolbar buttons with text only.
  6. Under Startup Dock Position, specify the starting dock position.

    Toolbars can be attached to a particular side of the application window, or float anywhere in the application workspace. If the toolbar is docked, you can specify which side it docks on:

    Select this dock position To do this
    Not Docked Have the toolbar float in the FH workspace.
    Top Display the toolbar attached to the top side of the window.
    Left Display toolbar attached to the left side of the window.
    Right Display toolbar attached to the right side of the window.
    Bottom Display toolbar attached to the bottom side of the window.

    Your empty toolbar is moved to the position you select.

  7. Under Other, specify additional options.

    1. Check Movable to be able to move the toolbar within the workspace.
    2. CheckClosable to be able to close the toolbar.
    3. Check Show Tool Tips to display tips that describes the toolbar button the cursor is positioned over.
    4. Check Hot-Track Buttons to highlight the button when the cursor is positioned over the button.
  8. Click the Buttons tab to specify buttons to include in the toolbar.

    You can add buttons for existing functions, or create a button from scratch. The Button Category specifies available buttons that perform menu options.

  9. (Optional Add a button for an existing function.

    1. Select the desired button category.
    2. Select the desired button (position your cursor over a button to display a description).
    3. Click and hold your left mouse button, then drag the button to your new toolbar.
    4. Release your left mouse button, and the button is added to the toolbar.
    5. Repeat the steps above for each additional button to add to your new toolbar.
  10. (Optional) Create a button from scratch.

    1. Press New.

      The Toolbar Button Properties form is displayed.

    2. In Run What?, specify the button's function.

      Select this function To do this
      Run an External Application Run an external application. You also can specify parameters, set a working directory, and require administrative access to use this button.
      Run a Report Run the report in Currently Selected Report.
      Run a Query Run the query in Currently Selected Query.
      Run an Automated Task Run the automated task in Currently Selected Task.
      Run an Add On Run the add on in Currently Selected Add On.
    3. Select the Appearance tab.
    4. Type the text to include for the button (only used when Text Only or Icon & Text are displayed for toolbar).
    5. Type the text to display when the cursor is positioned over the button in Tool Tip Text.
    6. Select a valid graphic to use for the button.

      Note: This file needs to be accessible at each workstation that will use the toolbar.

    7. Repeat the steps above for each button you wish to add to your new toolbar.
