Backup Database

Information on FH Enterprise remote backup and restore is available in Remote Backup/Restore.

Caution: Backup should be run outside of FH, with everyone logged off.

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs, then the FIREHOUSE Software folder, then FIREHOUSE Software Backup Utility.

    Tip: You can also run backup the database from inside FH, using the Tools menu, Backup/Restore option.

    Caution: Open files will not be backed up when backup is run while FH is open.

  2. Check the components to back up.

    The location of the components is determined from the destinations specified in the Workstation Options form.

  3. Check Test for exclusive access to verify that the data files are opened exclusively open files are not copied).
  4. Check Verify backup to scan the completed file for errors.
  5. Check Auto-generate file name to automatically name the backup file, or uncheck the field and specify a destination and file name for the backup file.

    Note: If you do a backup to removable drive (specifically, any time a backup will span multiple volumes) we recommend using the root path only (A:\) If you reference a directory structure (for example, A:\program files\firehouse software\) and the backup spans multiple diskettes, the subsequent diskettes must already have the directory structure.

  6. Press OK to backup the database.
