The client and the server are not the same version

Issue

You are using Internet Explorer on the client computer to access FH Web, and the following error message appears.

The client and the server are not the same version.

Explanation

The client computer is using an ActiveX plug-in for accessing FH Web that is not the same as the version of FH Web installed on the FH Web server. The correct version will not download to the client computer if you do not have Power User permissions to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\. You may also have downloaded a newer version of the plug-in on your own than the version FH Web supports.

Workaround

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Choose Tools → Internet Options.

The Internet Options dialog box appears, displaying the General tab.

  3. Under Browsing history, click Settings.

The Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box appears.

  4. Click View objects.

The Downloaded Program Files window appears.

  5. For the IEGCtrlClass file, in the Version column, check to see if the version number is 3,2,1,4446.

  6. (If the version is not 3,2,1,4446) Delete IEGCtrlClass.
  7. Close the Downloaded Program Files window.
  8. In the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box, click OK.
  9. In the Internet Options dialog box, click OK.
  10. Ask your system administrator to verify that you have Power User security permissions on C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\.
  11. In Internet Explorer, access FH Web again as normal.

The correct version of the ActiveX plug-in downloads automatically from the FHWeb server.
