Place the temporary license file in the installation directory

Early in the installation process, you emailed a host.txt file to support@firehousesoftware.com and received a temporary license file in return. Now that you have installed FH Web, you can place this license file in the appropriate directory. The temporary license file is not machine-specific. If you have multiple FH Web servers in your configuration, you can save the same temporary license file to each FH Web server.

Note: You will need to replace this temporary license file later with the permanent one, when it is sent to you.

  1. Open the email with the temporary license file attachment.
  2. Save the attached license file into FH Web installation directory\Programs.

By default, the FH Web installation directory is located in C:\Program Files\ACSXerox\FH Web Edition Server\Programs.

Note: If you specified a different program directory during the installation of FH Web, you will need to modify the path to FH Web installation directory accordingly.

  3. Check the date and time stamp on the file, or open the license file and, in the comment section at the top of the file, look for the note that lists the expiration date of the license file.

    Example:
    # NOTE: This is a DEMO license and will expire and become
    # non-functional on September 04, 2011

  4. Compare the time stamp on the file or the expiration date in the comment to today's date, and determine how many more days the temporary license file is valid.

The temporary license file is generated by a third-party vendor and provided to FIREHOUSE Software once a month. The temporary license file expires 30 days after it is generated by the vendor; depending on today's date, the license is valid for the remaining number of days from its generation date.

Note: If the remaining time on the temporary license expires before your permanent license file arrives, contact FH technical support and ask for the next temporary license from the third-party vendor.

  5. Restart the FH Web license manager for the license to take effect.

    1. Choose Start → Control Panel.

      The Control Panel window appears.

    2. Double-click Administrative Tools.

      The Administrative Tools window appears.

    3. Double-click Services.

      The Services window appears.

    4. Scroll down through the services until you find the FHweb Edition License Manager listing.

    5. Right-click FHweb Edition License Manager and then select Restart.

      The service restarts.

  6. Continue with Disable automatic Windows updates.
