File menu

The File menu contains functions that pertain to the actual sketch files themselves, as well as the data within them.

Save your work. If you have not previously saved your sketch, the File Save dialog box opens and displays the Save File directory, where you can name your sketch. The default directory settings are configured through Tools → Configuration → Defaults Tab.

Import a file which takes on all the subject information properties, as well as the file name of the current sketch you are working on.

Export the sketch in one of these ways: 

  • Export → File: Save your sketch file with a different name, or save it in different file format. You may export your sketch files in a variety of image formats.
  • Export → Spreadsheet: Export the individual area calculations of your sketch in a Microsoft Excel-compatible format.
  • Export → Data: Drag and drop your sketch data, field notes (Nexus), and sketch images directly into other applications including your URAR software, CAMA system, or other inspection forms.

View the subject information within the sketch, or obtain additional information, which is useful when troubleshooting problems.

Close FH Sketch. If you have not saved your file or made changes since your last save, you are prompted to save your file before exiting.

View the data you have gathered in the field using Nexus.

View subject photos while sketching, through applications with other applications (i.e. URAR).

Send your sketch file to the printer of your choice. There are several options to choose from.

  • Print→ Printer Setup: Open the Printer Setup dialog box, where you can choose your printer and specify settings pertaining to the printed output of your sketch files.
  • Print → Page Layout: Choose from a variety of page sizes and styles to match your own preferences and/or requirements. Your choices of page layout are typically limited to match the form layout within your forms application.
  • Print → Print to PDF: Save your documents in PDF format for electronic transfer and viewing, without the use of third-party tools.
