NFIRS HazMat
- Begin or open an Incident Report, and then access the Additional Reports section.

Press HazMat....
If more than one HazMat was involved, a Hazardous Material Release Detail report is completed for each HazMat released.
- To add a Hazardous Material Release Detail report, press Add at the bottom of the Materials section.

Complete the Hazardous Material Release Detail Report notes.
- Use the standard chemical or trade name by which the hazardous material is commonly known for Chemical Name.

Press Chem Lookup... to display a list of chemicals.
Available chemical listings include the NFIRS Chemicals Table, the CAMEO Database, chemicals added from other HazMat Incident Reports, or FH Occupancy Chemical Inventories records.
- Select chemical, then press OK to add.
- The Release Amount and Release Unit are the amount of hazardous material released from a container expressed as a standard unit of measure. The quantity released is reported as two data elements. One is a numeric entry and expresses quantity and the other defines the unit of measure. Both must be reported for the data to be meaningful.
- Press Save, then Close.,
- Complete the remaining required information.

Complete the HazMat Report notes.
- The Cause of Release field in the Scene section is the situation present at the time and location of the incident that caused the release or threatened release of a hazardous material.
- The HazMat Disposition field in the Equipt, Mobile Prop & Disposition section describes whether the fire department completed the handling of the hazardous materials incident or, instead, it was released to another agency or to the property owner for completion.
