Update the Value of Another Field

You can update the value of another field (i.e., field A) by entering a value in a second field (for example, field B). The rule is added to the second field (field B).

  1. From the Administration menu, select the System Rules and Default Values option.

    The System Rules and Default Values form is displayed.

  2. Highlight a specific area, then select a specific table.
  3. Press Setup...

    The System Rules and Default Values form is displayed.

  4. Highlight the field that will be triggering the value for another field, then press Add.

    The Select Rule Type form is displayed.

  5. Select Update the Value of Another Field, then press OK.
  6. Select the field that you want to replace the value for.
  7. Type a valid expression that specifies the condition to be met to Replace Field Value If.

  8. Type the Value/Expression To Use as Replacement.
  9. Press OK.
