FHETS.net brought a crowd to Atlanta!
The Omni Hotel at CNN Center located in the "Brave and Beautiful city" of Atlanta, Georgia was a wonderful host for the 2012 FIREHOUSE Software Education and Training Seminar. 530 attendees spent three busy days covering 47 different class subjects along with 150 one-on-one sessions to help everyone expand their knowledge of all FIREHOUSE Software options. Two evening receptions along with a user group panel discussion gave attendees the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences among their fellow colleagues too. Thursday also included a "field" trip to Turner Field for a tour of Atlanta Braves home. Thank you to everyone who joined us! The post-FHETS survey was emailed at the beginning of the month. The survey will close on October 31st. Thanks in advance to everyone that completes and returns them. We'll publish some of the comments and reviews on the FHETS 2012 web page as soon as we can. The FHETS 2013 site was also announced. Next year we'll be headed to Phoenix, Arizona on Sept 16 through 19. Registration for FHETS 2013 is estimated to open in February. If you have any questions about the 2012 event or next year's FHETS, please contact our training coordinator at FHETS@xerox.com.

Recording your training, by doing the training
There is no longer a need to download reports from one training platform and manually enter the details into FH. Our new joint solution, FH CMS (Compliance Management System), will allow the details of training completed within the Kaplan Learning Management System (LMS) to be automatically transferred into your FIREHOUSE Software Training Module. The desire and interest from the industry is what spurred the idea to work together in providing an exclusive solution for training records management.
Kaplan Fire & EMS is the only education company to partner with the IAFF for EMS continuing education and the only full-service provider of certificates and degree programs for Fire and EMS professionals. Several new features to manage courseware and associated training codes were added to Kaplan's LMS Control Panel for departments and agencies that choose to utilize this smart integration between the two companies. Kaplan offers a variety of EMS courses which can be used to earn CEU's to help maintain compliance with licenses and credentials. Various fire series are available, including Fire Officer, Technical Rescue, Pump Operator, Firefighter 1 and 2, and Hazardous Materials. These courses can be used as refresher training or as a supplement to any initial training program. Visit Kaplan Fire & EMS Training to continue your education now. |

Department Profile
In each newsletter, we profile a different department using FIREHOUSE Software. If you would like your department profiled, please send information about your department to: FHdocumentation@xerox.com.
Fire Department: Minot Fire Department Location: Minot, North Dakota Fire Chief: C J Craven Personnel: 50 Stations: 3 Pop. Served: approx. 40,000 Apparatus: 1996 and 2010 pumpers, 2001 75'-Quint and 2008 F550 Rescue Truck Software: FIREHOUSE Software Enterprise Edition Comments: Located along US Highway 83, Minot sits just 55 miles south of the U.S./Canadian International border, and approximately 100 miles north of the state capital of Bismark. Minot began in 1886 when Jim Hill's Great Northern Railroad paused for the winter. A tent town sprang up overnight, as if by magic, thus the city came to be known as the "Magic City." Minot was a typical western boom town in its early years. The 1950s saw the construction of the Minot Air Force Base, an Air Defense Command Base that later became a Strategic Air Command Bomber & Minuteman missile base. The city of Minot's first fire company was organized September 13, 1895. They began as a volunteer company with firefighters paid by the call. In 1931 the Minot Fire Department became a full paid department, slowly evolving to a combined full-time Fire/rescue, medical, ARFF and Hazardous Materials protection group. The rescue squad also protects a radius of 40 miles with EMS, auto-extrication, high angle rescue, water/ice rescue with PADI trained divers and confined space rescue. The staff performs many non-emergency services such as hydrant flushing, carbon monoxide checks, installing smoke detectors, public education/school talks and various fund raising and charitable events throughout the year. The Minot Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau offers the following services: code enforcement, inspections, building plans review, zoning consultation, fire and life safety education, fire alarm and suppression system plans review, and arson and fire cause determination investigations. For more information about the city of Minot and its fire department, visit http://www.minotnd.org/.
