2.0 Release Notes
These Release Notes are for FH Inspector 2.0, and provide a listing of the enhancements implemented and defects resolved during this release.
Note: FH Inspector 2.0 requires FIREHOUSE Software 7.15 or higher.
The following enhancements were implemented this release.
The following enhancements were implemented on the iPad.
You can now attach photographs to an inspection item. These photographs are sent to the FH Cloud during synchronization, and links to the photographs on the Cloud appear in FH as attachments to the inspection.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- Begin an inspection or re-inspection as normal.
-
When you find a violation, touch No.
A camera button appears in the inspection item, below N/A.
-
Touch the camera button.
A menu appears. The options available in this menu vary, depending on whether or not the iPad has an internal camera.
-
Depending on whether you already have a picture of the violation, do one of the following.
To do this Do this Take a new photo of the violation
Note: This option appears only if your iPad has an internal camera.
-
Select Take Photo.
The iPad's internal camera activates.
- Take the picture of the violation with the iPad as normal.
Attach a photo already on the iPad
-
Select Choose From Library or Saved Photos.
The Photos or Saved Photos menu appears.
- Use the menu to navigate to and select the photo that you want to attach to the item.
Note: On iPads with an internal camera, a prompt to allow FH Inspector to access the photos on your iPad may appear. This prompt only appears the first time you try to add a photo to a violation. If it appears, touch OK.
The picture automatically attaches to the item, and appears in the item listing. If necessary, you can attach multiple photos to a violation.
-
You can now add general notes to the inspection as a whole, instead of only adding notes to individual items in an inspection.
Caution: Any notes you add to Inspection Notes replaces the content of existing notes for that inspection in the FH database.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- In FH Inspector, begin an inspection as normal.
-
Scroll to the bottom of the list of inspection items.
The Inspection Notes area appears above the Done button.
You can now specify a default time interval between inspections and reinspections. You can override the default if necessary when scheduling a reinspection.
-
In the upper right corner of the interface, touch the cog-shaped icon.
The Default Inspection Cycle dialog box appears.
- In the field, type the default number of days that inspections or reinspections should be scheduled for.
- Touch OK.
The following enhancements were implemented in the synchronization process between the iPad and the FH database at the station.
FH Inspector now runs faster, as a result of an internal change in the way data is stored on the FH Cloud.
The synchronization process now tracks its progress while transferring data between FH Inspector on the iPad and the FH database at the station. If you are in a low-bandwidth location and lose your Internet connection while the data is synchronizing, now the process automatically resumes when the connection is re-established, avoiding long synchronization times, timeouts, and incomplete synchronizations.
When synchronizing FH Inspector with the FH database, the status messages now reflect the percentage completed more accurately, as records are processed and added to the FH database or extracted from the FH database and sent to the FH Cloud.
The following enhancements were implemented on the FH Inspector administration web site, at www.ManageMyInspections.com.
A FH Inspector administrator can now use the new Check-in tab on the FH Inspector administration web site to see the real-time location of the iPad on a Google map when the inspection begins and finishes. The location of the unit appears as a blue circle on the map, and the location and status of inspections in the area appears as push-pin markers on the map.
Information on using the features of the Check-in tab is available in the FH Inspector Administrator's Guide.
You can now use your login credentials for FH Inspector on the iPad to view a violation report or violation photos on the FH Inspector administration web site with their iPad logins, instead of needing a department administrator login.
You can now restrict specific data in FH Inspector on the iPad from being updated to the FH Cloud during the synchronization process. As a result, the data is not updated in the FH database, either.
You can restrict the property use code, mixed used code, inspection type, business license, parcel number, square feet, number of floors, and occupancy load data from being sent to the FH Cloud.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- Log on to www.ManageMyInspections.com as the department administrator.
-
Click the Department tab, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.
The new options are located under Do Not Allow iPad Updates. When you select the check box for any of these items, any changes made to the corresponding data in FH Inspector on the iPad are not accepted by the FH Cloud during synchronization.
Note: These options are cleared by default.
FH Inspector now supports Canadian state and province addresses.
The following issues were successfully resolved this release.
The following enhancements were implemented on the iPad.
When performing a reinspection, if you record a violation and synchronize FH Inspector with the FH Cloud using the steps below, the reinspection does not appear on the schedule in FH as expected.
- In FH Inspector, begin a reinspection as normal.
- For an inspection question that has a violation, touch No.
-
Near the top of the interface, for Only Show Violations, drag the slider to cover Yes, so that No appears.
The full list of inspection items appears.
- For a different inspection question that has a violation, touch No.
-
When all of the items in the questionnaire have been responded to, at the bottom of the list, touch Done.
A summary page of violations found during the inspection appears, and the Inspection Summary screen updates to display the Reinspection on field and the Sign button.
- Specify a reinspection date.
-
Sign and complete the inspection as normal.
After the inspection data is sent to the FH Cloud during the synchronization process, the reinspection is not scheduled in FH as expected.
The order of checklist items that appeared in FH Inspector did not match the order of the items in the checklist created in FH.
The following enhancements were implemented in the synchronization process between the iPad and the FH database at the station.
If you completed an inspection in FH Inspector and synchronized FH Inspector with the FH database, the inspection was sometimes still listed in FH as scheduled, not completed. If the completed inspection required a re-inspection, the reinspection date appeared on the violation report, but the reinspection itself did not appeared in FH Inspector.
If you completed a reinspection with FH Inspector and had marked a previous violation as repaired during the reinspection, after you synchronize FH Inspector with the FH database, the repaired date is not always added to the original inspection.
The following enhancements were implemented on the FH Inspector administration web site, at www.ManageMyInspections.com.
If you completed a hydrant inspection with FH Inspector and synchronized FH Inspector with the FH database with the steps below, an error appeared in the FIREHOUSE Software Cloud Synchronization Utility dialog box, in the Synchronization Status section, and under Hydrant Activities section, the Pull Status lists 0%
for updated records.
- Complete a scheduled hydrant inspection in FH Inspector, and verify that it appears among the completed inspections section on the ipad.
- Log out of FH Inspector.
- Synchronize the FH Inspector with the FH Cloud.
- Log into FH, and open the FIREHOUSE Software Cloud Synchronization Utility dialog box.
-
Click Advanced Options.
In the Advanced Options dialog box appears.
-
Click Clear (Push all next sync), and then click Clear (Pull all next sync).
-
Click Sync.
The synchronization ran and successfully synchronized the completed occupancy inspections, but errored on the hydrant activities and did not synchronize them.
