1.4.0 Release Notes
These Release Notes are for FH Inspector 1.4.0, and provide a listing of the defects resolved and the enhancements implemented during this release.
Note: FH Inspector 1.4.0 requires FIREHOUSE Software 7.12.17 or higher.
The following issues were successfully resolved this release.
If you saved a hydrant inspection containing a hydrant defect with the steps below, without filling out all the defect fields, the next synchronization failed and FH Inspector was unable to successfully synchronize again.
-
On the left side of the bar at the top of the screen, touch Hydrants.
-
On the right side of the bar, touch Scheduled or All to list the inspections.
The map and inspection list at the bottom of the screen update to reflect your selection.
- Begin an inspection as normal, and edit information for the inspection as needed.
-
(If defects were found in the hydrant) Next to No Defects, touch the plus sign .
No Defects changes to Defects, and the options in that section update so that you can enter defect information.
If you do not fill in the options in this section and you save the inspection, the next time you synchronize with the FH Cloud, the synchronization fails.
Note: With FH Inspector 1.4.0 and later, a dialog box now appears warning you that you have not finished entering the information for a defect, and FH Inspector will not save the hydrant inspection without the information.
If you minimized FH Inspector on the iPad, or if you did not interact it with FH Inspector until the iPad timed out and the screen went dark, when you accessed FH Inspector again, FH Inspector would close unexpectedly.
If the longitude or latitude value of an occupancy or hydrant location in the FH database is invalid, when you selected the location from the list at the bottom of the screen and FH Inspector tried to display the location on the map, FH Inspector closed unexpectedly.
When you completed an occupancy inspection and generated a PDF file containing the results of the inspection with the steps below, the logo image in the upper left corner of the PDF was distorted (stretched).
- On the left side of the bar at the top of the screen, touch Business.
-
On the right side of the bar, touch Completed or All.
Inspections appear on the map and in the inspection list at the bottom of the screen.
-
Open a completed inspection for review as normal.
The Business Details page appears, displaying the number of violations found during the inspection and the basic information about the occupancy.
-
In the upper right corner of the interface, touch Review Inspection.
The Inspection Questionnaire page appears.
-
At the bottom of the page, touch View Summary.
The Inspection Summary page appears.
-
Touch View PDF to see the PDF file.
The PDF file appears, and the logo image in the upper left corner of the notice is distorted (stretched).
If the FH Inspector administrator had originally activated FH Inspector with a demonstration license, and then tried to change to a purchased license with the steps below, the administrator sometimes had to enter the license repeatedly before it was accepted. On occasion, the license was never accepted.
-
On your iPad's desktop, touch the FH Inspector icon.
The FH Inspector for iPad screen appears.
-
Touch Options.
A menu of options appears.
-
Touch Enter New License.
The Enter New License dialog box appears.
-
Touch Yes.
The FH Inspector for iPad screen appears.
- Touch the field with the gray text License Number in it.
- Use the iPad touch keyboard that appeared to enter the license number that your FH technical support person emailed you.
-
Touch Authorize.
If the FH Cloud did not accept the license, the Enter New License dialog box reappeared instead of FH Inspector connecting with the FH Cloud.
If you viewed the list of completed inspections with the steps below, the dates shown for when the inspections were performed were the date of the most-recent synchronization, not the date the inspection was performed.
- On the left side of the bar at the top of the screen, touch Business or Hydrants to indicate the type of inspection you want to perform.
-
On the right side of the bar, touch Completed or All.
Inspections appear on the map and in the inspection list at the bottom of the screen. In the list at the bottom, the dates listed for completed inspections were incorrect.
During the synchronization process, a very small percentage of data was not synchronizing correctly, causing some inspections to not be pulled from the FH Cloud to the FH database.
If a fire department had more than one checklist and a re-inspection was performed using a checklist other than the default checklist, violations on the re-inspection were not included in the synchronization.
When pushing hydrant activity data to the FH Cloud, the data for the hydrant itself was not pushed as well, and an error occurred.
The following enhancements were implemented this release.
Performance improvements have occurred from changes in the processing of the inspection checklists and synchronization with the FH Cloud.
You can now decide whether or not a re-inspection is needed for an occupancy, and close an inspection even if violations are recorded.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- Open an occupancy inspection or reinspection, and respond to all the items in the questionnaire as normal.
-
At the bottom of the list, touch Done.
A summary page of violations found during the inspection appears.
The Inspection Summary screen updates to display the Reinspection on field and the Sign button. The Reinspection Needed field now also appears.
If you touch the Reinspection Needed slider and drag it to the left so that No appears, you can close the inspection even though violations were recorded.
The date for an inspection or reinspection is now included in the balloon help that appears over the map.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- On the left side of the bar at the top of the screen, touch Business or Hydrants to indicate the type of inspection you want to perform.
-
Touch an inspection marker on the map, or touch an inspection's entry in the list at the bottom of the interface.
Balloon help appears over the map, displaying information about the inspection. The date of the inspection or re-inspection now appears in the balloon as well.
The menu of inspectors available to perform an inspection is now wider, and contains the staff ID of each inspector.
To find this new feature, do the following.
- Begin an occupancy or hydrant inspection as normal.
-
In the upper right corner of the screen, touch Begin Inspection.
If multiple inspectors are available, a menu of inspector names appears. The menu is now wider, and displays the staff ID number of each inspector.
If an administrator entered the license number for activating FH Inspector on their iPad before pushing their FH data to the FH Cloud, they were unable to assign the iPad to a company (unit), because there was no company data yet to select.
Now, instead of being repeatedly prompted to select a company for the iPad, the administrator can re-license FH Inspector at the company prompt. Assuming the administrator has pushed their FH data up to the FH Cloud, re-licensing lets the administrator pull the data from the FH Cloud to the iPad without uninstalling and re-installing FH Inspector.
To find this new feature, do the following.
-
On your iPad's desktop, touch the FH Inspector icon.
The FH Inspector for iPad screen appears.
-
Touch Options.
A menu of options appears.
-
Touch Change Company.
The new Relicense button appears when you are prompted to select a company (unit) for the iPad.
- Touch Relicense, and then follow the prompts that appear.
On the FH Inspector administration web site, new filters are now available on the company dashboard to help you display only the inspection data you want to view.
To find the new filters, do the following.
-
Log into the FH Cloud as an administrator.
The administration page for your department appears.
-
Click Dashboard.
The new options for filtering company appears.
You can now view a list of all the scheduled and completed inspections for each unit from the FH Inspector administration web site.
To find this new feature, do the following.
-
Log into the FH Cloud as an administrator.
The administration page for your department appears.
-
Click Dashboard.
Under Fire Inspections and Hydrant Inspections, the number of upcoming and completed inspections for each unit appears under Scheduled and Completed.
-
In the row for the unit you want to see an inspection listing on, click the plus (+) sign to the left of the number in the Scheduled or Completed column.
A more detailed listing of the inspections appears, and the plus sign (expand icon) becomes a minus sign (contract icon). A Delete button also appears below the listing of inspections.
- Click the minus (–) sign to collapse the expanded inspections list.
You can now also delete an inspection from the FH Inspector administration web site.
Warning: Inspections that you delete on the FH Inspector administration site also need to be deleted in FH, or they will reappear on the administration site during the next synchronization.
-
Log into the FH Cloud as an administrator.
The administration page for your department appears.
-
Click Dashboard.
- Under Fire Inspections and Hydrant Inspections, the number of upcoming and completed inspections for each unit appears under Scheduled and Completed.
-

- In the Delete column for the inspection you want to remove, select the check box.
-
Below the inspections list, click Delete.
The inspection is deleted, the page refreshes, and the number of inspections updates to be one less.
If you have lookups that were pushed to the FH Cloud in an earlier synchronization, but which are no longer used in inspections, you can now delete them from the FH Cloud using the FH Inspector administration site.
Warning: Lookups that you delete on the FH Inspector administration site also need to be deleted in FH, or they will be pushed to the FH Cloud again during the next synchronization.
To find this new feature, do the following.
-
Log into the FH Cloud as an administrator.
The administration page for your department appears.
-
Click Department, and then scroll to the bottom of the page.
The Cloud Data Management section appears.
Note: Only lookups that are not currently used by any inspection or activity are listed.
-
From the Unit, Shift, or Inspector lists, select the lookup you want to delete.
Tip: You can select options in each of these lists, and multiple selections in any of these lists, to delete more than one lookup at once. If you do not want to delete an item in a list, be sure to select the blank space at the top of the list.
-
Click Clear Data.
The selected lookups are deleted, and the page refreshes to display the remaining unused lookups in the Unit, Shift, or Inspector lists.
