their department. We encourage clients to submit tips and suggestions for
future FireVISION articles.
Personalized Daily Log
Imagine having a personalized list of today's scheduled activities displayed
when you log in to FH.
To implement, you need to link your user name with your Staff ID, create
a copy of the 'Staff Activity by ID' report and make some minor modifications,
and finally add an automated task that runs the modified report when FH
is accessed.
To associate a user with a Staff ID:
-
Access the Administration menu and select the Users and Security option.
-
Select the user, then press Properties
-
Press Link to Staff ID..., select the staff record to associate with the
user, then press OK.
-
Press Save and Close.
To create the personalized daily log:
-
Access the Reports menu Staff, Activity, and Training Reports option, then
press New.
-
Press Yes to prompt, then select the Staff Activities category, Staff Activity
by ID report, then press Select.
-
Change Report Name to 'Personal Log', then press Properties
to the right
of Query Name.
-
Click the Tables tab and add the Users database Usr_main table, then press
OK to accept the Query - Table Name prompt.
-
Click the Filter tab and change the Act_main.Date Type to "Value", Criteria
to "=" and then press the ? lookup and check Dynamic Date then press OK.
-
Remove the other parameters and disable Allow additional parameters to
be added by the user at runtime.
-
Save and close the Query Designer form, then save and close the Report
Designer form.
-
Press Esc then press Close.
To add an automated task:
-
Access the Administration menu Automated Task option.
-
Press New, then select "Print a Report" and "Login" for Run How Often?.
-
Press Setup Task Parameters, highlight 'Personal Log', then press Select.
-
Change Select Output Type to "Screen" then press OK. Save and close task.
When the automated task processor is active and FH is accessed, a report
of staff activities for the user is displayed. If there is no staff associated
with the user or no staff activities for that user scheduled for today's
date, the report is not displayed. This same method can be used to display
other events like upcoming occupancy inspections, too.
